A Craftsy Class Review and Giveaway
Special Thanks to Charles Voth for sponsoring this Giveaway. Be sure to check him out on Ravelry and Twitter.
As you probably know by now, I’ve recently started doing online class reviews for Craftsy. I also offer my fans a new review and giveaway weekly on Cre8tion Crochet. I was recently approached by Charles to review his new Craftsy Class; See It, Make It.
As Charles says in the opening of his class, “knowing how to read diagrams truly will open up the world of crochet to you, in a whole new way.” I couldn’t agree more.
It doesn’t matter what language you speak and read, if you can read a diagram. Diagrams use universal symbols to demonstrate what stitches will go where. Diagrams are especially helpful if you are a left handed crocheter, since most patterns are written for the more common right handed people. Stitch Diagrams give no preference.
After we meet Charles, he takes you right into the first Lesson. Lesson 1 is Basic Symbols. You will learn …
-
What is a crochet diagram?
-
Common Crochet Symbols
-
Combination Stitches
-
Where to Insert the Hook
That is just the beginning. There are 7 more lessons that will teach you everything you could possibly need to know about reading crochet diagrams.
Lesson 2- Row Diagrams
Lesson 3- Advanced Row Diagrams
Lesson 4- Textured Stitch Diagrams
Lesson 5- Diagrams in the Round
Lesson 6- 3-D Shape Diagrams*
Lesson 7- Diagrams Around the World
*In lesson 6 You will also learn how to follow amigurumi charts
You will even learn how to make this gorgeous cowl
This is one class that I would highly recommend to any crocheter. There is nothing you can’t make if you know how to read diagrams. Charles is an easy instructor to learn from. His directions are clear and concise and he makes learning how to read diagrams very enjoyable. He even makes it fun with fun facts like these:
By the end of this class you should be well versed in reading diagrams, including diagrams written in different countries, such as Japanese diagrams. You should also be well on your way to writing your own charts.
You may even decide that you prefer charts/diagrams to written directions, as I do.
