Unicorn hat
I have friends that LOVE Unicorns. They love Unicorns so much that I decided to crochet some Unicorn hats for when we all get together at the end of the summer. We and our children will all wear our crochet Unicorn hats and have a blast! Of course, it will be a little warm for hats but that’s ok… we’ll make due!
This pattern is written in adult and toddler sizes. It can easily be made to any size, just make the appropriate size beanie and choose either the adult sized appliques or the children’s size, depending on your finished size project.
The patterns are posted for the two hats pictured here.

To add mane and forelock
I used a mixture of fun fur and Caron’s Simply Soft in complimentary colors.
- Cut yarn to in approximately 5” lengths (this does not have to be exact, no need to measure)
- Each section is made of 1 strand of yarn and two strands of fun fur
- Insert hook underneath stitch where you want to place “hair” from top to bottom and back up to top. Fold yarn in half and hook in center with crochet hook, pull loop just through (so that there is a little loop on hook. Yarn over the rest of yarn and pull it through the loop. (The same way you would attach fringe on a scarf). Be sure to pull tight and repeat to finish.
For the forelock I did one row around horn and then three rows on top (2 stitches in top row, 3 stitches in other two rows)
For the mane the first two rows two stitches wide and the rest of the rows 4 stitches wide down the back of the hat till it looked the way I wanted.
And now you are done with your very own Crochet Unicorn Hat!!! Enjoy!!!
